Privacy Policy

ForeverBuilt, LLC (“Company,” “we,” “us”), doing business as Omniscient Media, is the data controller for omniscient.media.

1. Information We Collect

Accounts and comments

When you create an account, we collect your email address and, if you sign in via Google or GitHub, your display name and avatar URL as provided by those services.

When you post comments, we store the comment content along with your user ID and timestamp.

Newsletter

When you subscribe, we store your email address, your subscription status, which signup form you used, and the dates you subscribed, confirmed or unsubscribed. If you arrived through a link carrying campaign tags (for exampleutm_source), we store those tags with your subscription so we know which channels bring readers. We also record whether our bot-detection check flagged the signup, and whether emails to your address bounce.

Our newsletter emails contain a small image that tells us when a subscriber opens an issue. This records which issue was opened by which subscriber. You can prevent it by turning off automatic image loading in your email client, or by unsubscribing using the link in every email.

Site analytics

We use Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to count visits and measure page performance. They do not use cookies. Each record contains the page visited, the referring site, approximate location (country and region), device type, operating system and browser, and page-load timings. Vercel identifies a visit by a hash of the incoming request that it discards after 24 hours; it is not linked to your account or used to follow you across other websites. Pages in our editorial tools are excluded.

When you arrive through a link carrying campaign tags, we also record the tags and the page you landed on, with no identifier, so we can count visits per campaign.

Security

To protect our forms from abuse, we use Vercel BotID to check whether a signup comes from an automated client, and we use your IP address briefly to rate-limit repeated requests. We do not store your IP address. For signup attempts we record the outcome and the domain of the email address entered (for example, “gmail.com”), not the full address.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Authenticate your identity and manage your account
• Display your comments and profile on the site
• Moderate content to maintain community standards
• Send transactional emails (account confirmation, password reset)
• Send the newsletter you subscribed to, and understand which issues are read
• Measure readership and which channels bring readers to the site
• Protect the site and its forms from spam and abuse

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Supabase: authentication and database hosting
• Vercel: application hosting, Web Analytics, Speed Insights and BotID
• Resend: newsletter and email delivery (receives your email address)
• Upstash: rate limiting (processes IP addresses briefly; not stored by us)
• OpenAI: comment moderation (comment text is sent for analysis)

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

4. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use essential cookies for authentication session management. These are strictly necessary for the site to function and cannot be disabled. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and our analytics do not use cookies.

We also store a few small values in your browser:

• cookie-consent-accepted (local storage): remembers that you dismissed the cookie notice
• omni_post_cta_dismissed (local storage): remembers when you dismissed the subscribe bar
• om_attribution (session storage, cleared when you close the tab): holds the campaign tags from the link you arrived through, so a later signup in the same visit is credited to the right campaign

5. Data Retention

Account data is retained as long as your account is active. Comments remain published unless you request deletion. You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us.

If you unsubscribe from the newsletter, we keep your email address marked as unsubscribed so that we do not email you again. Contact us if you would like it deleted entirely.
