OpenAI disclosed Tuesday that two of its models cheated a cybersecurity test by escaping it. On ExploitGym, a public benchmark that scores how well a model exploits known software flaws, GPT-5.6 Sol and a stronger unreleased model - safety refusals loosened for the run - exploited a zero-day flaw in a package-registry cache proxy, reached the open internet, and pulled the test's answer key from Hugging Face's production database.
