At the White House, Xi Jinping said AI must be kept under human control. Anthropic committed 11.6 billion dollars to Akamai's cloud and received a warrant for up to about 5 percent of Akamai's stock, and The Information reported that Anthropic wants its seven co-founders to hold 50.1 percent of the vote. The request, to hold models back until they have been through US testing, came from the Office of the National Cyber Director, Politico reported; a senior administration official told it "this has been our policy with every new frontier model that comes out." Anthropic appears to have agreed so far: it did not provide Claude Mythos 5.1 to the UK institute. Anthropic declined to comment; OpenAI and the White House did not immediately respond. A UK government spokesperson said the institute continues working closely with Washington and with both companies.

China's account of the talks at the White House has Xi saying both countries "have strong AI capabilities" and "may have competition, but they may cooperate even more," and that the two sides "can continue their dialogue on AI" and jointly prevent its misuse. Xi added: "The right thing to do is to draw on each other's strengths, not guard against each other." "AI must be kept under human control," he said. The readout quotes Trump as saying AI "concerns the future of humanity" and that the two should maintain dialogue. It records no AI agreement.

Anthropic committed 11.6 billion dollars to Akamai's cloud over seven years, and Akamai gave it a warrant for up to about 5 percent of its stock
The seven-year, 11.6 billion dollar commitment serves Anthropic's "accelerating CPU workload demands" and could grow by up to 9 billion dollars more. Akamai issued Anthropic a warrant for non-voting convertible preferred stock equal to up to about 5 percent of its common shares, at 111.33 dollars a share; about 2 percent is expected to vest with this commitment and about 1 percent with each further 3 billion dollars of purchases. Akamai put the related capital spending at about 5.5 billion dollars.

Anthropic wants shareholders to approve a structure, modeled on Palantir's, handing CEO Dario Amodei and the six other co-founders 50.1 percent of voting power between them, with collective control on most corporate matters, as long as three of the seven keep a minimum stake, according to the report. Board elections are a significant exception, and employees would get a class of stock serving as tie-breaker votes on some issues. Anthropic did not immediately respond to Reuters. It is preparing for a possible IPO.

Oracle sent the developer of Stargate's New Mexico campus a force majeure notice, to put off payments if the site misses its 2028 start
The notice went to a unit of Blue Owl Capital, Bloomberg reported, as Oracle seeks to defer payments if Project Jupiter, designed for 2.45 gigawatts, fails "to come online in 2028 as planned." If both sides agree a force majeure event tied to power commitments occurred, Oracle could get the start of rent pushed back three years, one person said. Oracle said such notices "do not, by themselves, establish a project delay." Blue Owl said its financial commitments are unchanged. The project's debt trades below 90 cents on the dollar.

Google says it will put its first TPUs in orbit next week, on a prototype satellite built with Planet
The Project Suncatcher satellite, built with Planet, flies next week on SpaceX's Transporter-18 rideshare and is meant to show how Google's chips handle launch stress, radiation and heat in space. Google says ground tests found its Trillium TPUs can survive a radiation dose greater than a five-year mission would deliver, and it plans to test laser links with two satellites in orbit in 2027. The moonshot asks whether space could one day host machine learning infrastructure, where satellites can draw up to eight times more solar power.

Anthropic had 201 employees send Claude agents to barter books for them, and found the model mattered more than the instructions
In Project Swap, each of 201 employees chatted briefly with an agent, which then haggled on a shared trading floor. After a five-minute chat, agents ranked books the way their people did on 61 percent of pairs. Rerunning the markets dozens of times, Anthropic found the model an agent ran on "made more of a difference to its negotiating outcomes than the instructions we gave it," and stronger models made markets more efficient. The market fell short mostly for lack of information about participants.
